Having received a B.S. in Physics with High Honors from the University of Maryland College Park, Kate continued at UMD and received a Ph.D. in Physics with a specialty in atomic, molecular, and optical physics. After graduate school, having completed her postdoctoral years, she is now ready to help others with their academic struggles. As a postdoc, she supervised and mentored the graduate students working under her to achieve their goals and complete their degrees.

She has been tutoring students ever since her time at Montgomery Blair High School. Kate has enjoyed mentoring elementary students in the Girls on the Run Program. During her years at Maryland, she worked as a mentor for the high school Summer Girls Program within the Physics Department. On Maryland Day each year she volunteered putting on experiments and enjoyed showing children the joys of physics. Some of the most fun she has had were delivering talks to middle school students at the Maryland Quidditch Camps and working with children building with Legos at the Montgomery County Libraries!

Kate enjoys working with students from the youngest ages through college age and feels she could help them get over the difficult humps in school life! Her philosophy is to meet each child where they are and tailor lessons to their specific needs. Kate can tutor in a broad variety of subjects within math and science and certainly help with other subjects. When not tutoring, Kate’s hobbies include competitive chess, swimming, lifeguarding, and running, as well as even dabbling in MD politics.
