Dr. Sherry D. Goldman earned her M.D. from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 1979. She then went on to complete her first residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in 1982 followed by a Chief Residency in Pediatrics at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore (1983). Knowing how much she loved mental health, child development and behavior, she decided to do a complete residency in General Psychiatry at G.W. (1986) and then a Fellowship and Chief Fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital (1988). She is Board Certified in Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Academy of Psychiatry and Neurology.

She has been in private practice in Rockville, Maryland since 1988 serving a wide variety of patients of all ages. She has a particular interest in helping children and families with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and learning disabilities. She also works with individuals with co-morbidities like ADHD, dyslexia and anxiety disorders (as her brother had as a child and her daughter currently has). She has served as an appointed member of the AACAP Adolescent Committee and an appointed member of the APA Committee on Psychiatry in the Schools. She is a member of the following professional organizations: American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and the Washington Council of Child Psychiatry. She has been listed in the Washingtonian Magazine Top Doctors for 2002, 2008 and 2010. She was also listed as a Top Psychiatrist for the Consumer Research Council of America in 2005, 2005 and 2006. She was also selected to Top Doctors Honors Edition of Who’s Who in 2016.

Working with children, families, and adults with ADHD requires a team approach collaborating with different schools, teachers, employers and other therapists and coaches. Dr. Goldman understands the multimodal approach, time and effort that is required to help such individuals and has dedicated her professional career to this important challenge.
